Why did you choose this fieldwork?
Location and setting. CS offers both Acute and inpatient, but the acute opportunity was my placement.
Please indicate type of setting:
Inpatient, Acute
Please describe your living and commuting situation. (Was accomodation offered? Public transportation or parking offered? Please include price paid, location and conditions.)
No accomodations. Public transport is available, but I highly recommend having a car. Parking is free; you put down a refundable deposit. I found my lodging through a friend of a friend of a friend, but I would check with your alumni association; they oftentimes will send an email out on your behalf to those alumni that live in the area.
Describe types of conditions or diagnoses, as well as age ranges exposed to during this fieldwork.
Ages 18+. 75% of the pts I saw were 65+. Diagnoses - wide range. CVA, MS, oncology, cardiac, ortho, etc.
What types of assessments and interventions were used?
General occupational profile for the acute setting.
Tx: ADL Retraining, Therapeutic Activity. You have much freedom with the Tx you choose, I simply happened to do mostly ADL Retraining.

Wonderful! Great group to work with!
Please comment on personality traits and/or preparation that would facilitate success at this site.
Organization, self-motived/self-directed learning. The pace was moderate, so do have system for both organization and taking in new information.
While in the area, don't miss ...
The sights and sounds of LA!
How many stars would you give your experience, from one to five?

Any lasting thoughts or advice?
Would highly recommend this site for Level II B only. High acuity. Should have some knowledge in phys rehab, otherwise it may be quite challenging.
