I was in RIAO, which specializes in orthopedics and limb-lengthening. I saw tons of hip and knee replacements, as well as patients with arm and leg external fixators that were being used for limb-lengthening.
What types of assessments and interventions were used?
Hospital-based forms for eval's, SOAP notes for follow-ups
What are your thoughts on the site's environment for the employees and students? (Please consider: organization, collaboration, mentoring, learning opportunities)
It's a teaching hospital, all the doctors, therapists, nurses, etc. are very accessible and open to answering questions. Also, there are tons of areas (outpatient, rehab, acute care, etc.) so you can take field trips and see other settings within the same hospital.
Please comment on personality traits and/or preparation that would facilitate success at this site.
It was fast-paced and you are on your feet a lot throughout the day. However, each day went by very quickly!
While in the area, don't miss ...
Sinai's cafeteria is awesome!
How many stars would you give your experience, from one to five?
5
Any lasting thoughts or advice?
I would definitely recommend this site to other students.
